Parking

Per our permits, there is absolutely no parking anywhere on the course. Strict parking restrictions apply to the Cater Water Treatment Plant, San Roque Road, the start/finish staging area, and all aid stations. Crew parking on San Roque Road, at the Cater Water Treatment Plant, or anywhere on the course will result in disqualification.

This is a condition of our permits and is non-negotiable. Please do not encourage friends or family to park anywhere on the course.

Start / Finish Drop Off

Beginning at 4:00 am on Saturday, March 15, a designated drop-off area will be available at the Cater Water Treatment Plant.

Direct your ride to drop you off at:
1150 San Roque Rd, Santa Barbara, CA 93105

This is a drop-off only area — parking is not allowed on San Roque Road.

Offsite Parking 

There is no official Nine Trails event parking. However, the Santa Barbara Self-Pay Waterfront Parking Lots will open at 3:30 am on race day.

Please be mindful of any street parking time limits and fees at both City and Private lots.

Nine Trails Shuttle Bus Schedule 

A dedicated shuttle bus will operate between Waterfront Parking and the Cater Water Treatment Plant, available to all participants and friends.

The shuttle will pick up approximately every 30 minutes at the corner of Cabrillo Blvd. and Garden Street.

Shuttle Hours

  • Morning Schedule: 4:00 am - 8:30 am
  • Afternoon Schedule: 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Please plan accordingly as the shuttle schedule is limited.

Course Information

Full Course (35 Miles)

  • Out-and-back format, marked with pink surveyor tape and directional arrows.
  • Route: Cater Water Treatment Plant → Jesusita Trailhead → Romero Canyon Trailhead → back.

  • Out-and-back format, marked with pink surveyor tape and directional arrows.
  • Route: Cater Water Treatment Plant → Jesusita Trailhead → Gibraltar Road Aid Station → back.

Aid Stations / Cupless Event

Aid stations are placed approximately every five miles and stocked with:

  • Water
  • Hammer Nutrition products (HEED, Hammer Gels, Electrolyte Fizz)
  • Pickle Juice Sport 
  • Fruit, candy, and soda

This is a cupless event — runners must bring their own cups or bottles. Aid will be minimal but adequate, so plan accordingly.

Release of Liability Waiver

A signed waiver is required for all participants.

Print, read, sign, and bring the waiver to runner check-in.

Timing and Results

Manual timing will be used. All runners must check in at the Timing Booth upon finishing the race.

Rules

  • No late or early starts
  • No pacers
  • No crew support
  • No outside aid (runner-to-runner aid is allowed)
  • No dogs
  • No headphones or earbuds
  • Trekking poles are allowed and encouraged
  • No littering — pack it in, pack it out

  • Finisher medals for all finishers
  • Special awards for the overall first male and female finishers in each distance
